Domestic Violence and Employment Earnings

A study of reported cases of domestic violence over a 22-year period revealed that domestic violence is linked with a 4% decrease in employment and a 5% decrease in earnings (Bhuller et al., 2024). The rise in use of disability insurance mirrors the decrease in employment, as well as correlates to the increase in mental health diagnoses.

Domestic Violence is linked to a decline in a victim’s employment and earnings, as well as a rise in the use of disability insurance.
